KAI signs MoU with Remondo on sub-30 cm Earth observation satellite development
Korea Aerospace Industries · Remondo
Korea Aerospace Industries pairs its satellite platforms with the Israeli-US startup's imaging payload tech, per The Elec.
what happened
Korea Aerospace Industries and Remondo signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop a sub-30-centimeter-resolution Earth observation satellite solution, combining Remondo's Partial Aperture Imaging System payload technology with KAI's satellite platforms, per The Elec and Remondo's own release. Remondo, founded in 2022 and publicly unveiled in February 2026, says it is preparing its first two on-orbit missions in 2027 and that this is its first international partnership.
why it matters
KAI moving from buses into very-high-resolution payload partnerships signals Korea's primes want a share of the sub-30 cm market that SIIS is already monetising. For payload startups, an MoU with a national prime is the classic route to flight heritage; no money or satellite count is committed yet.
