Frontier picks Starlink Wi-Fi for over 1,000 Indigo Partners aircraft
Frontier Airlines · SpaceX · Wizz Air · Volaris · JetSMART · Cebu Pacific · Indigo Partners
Frontier and four sister Indigo Partners airlines will equip more than 1,000 aircraft with Starlink Wi-Fi starting in 2027.

what happened
Frontier Airlines said it will install SpaceX's Starlink as its onboard Wi-Fi, with the first Starlink-equipped Frontier aircraft flying in early 2027, per Frontier's newsroom. Indigo Partners, which also owns stakes in Wizz Air, Volaris, JetSMART, and Cebu Pacific, said the program covers more than 1,000 aircraft across its portfolio airlines. Frontier CEO Jimmy Dempsey said Starlink 'transforms the onboard experience,' and Indigo Partners managing partner Bill Franke said it will provide 'reliable, high-speed connectivity' across the portfolio.
why it matters
Starlink keeps closing out the in-flight Wi-Fi market: per AJC, Frontier was one of the last major U.S. carriers still flying without it, while United, American, Southwest, Alaska, and dozens of international airlines already have deals. A five-airline commitment across one private-equity portfolio is a large, recurring aviation revenue line for SpaceX and further narrows the market for Viasat, Panasonic, and Amazon's forthcoming Leo aviation service, which Delta chose instead.
