Icarus Robotics selected KULR Technology Group to supply battery systems for Joy, its free-flying robotic platform bound for the International Space Station on the Joyride-1 mission scheduled for early 2027, SpaceNews reports. KULR's One Space (K1S) battery systems will be customized for Joy's navigation, maneuvering, and astronaut-assistance functions. KULR's batteries previously flew on a cubesat aboard NASA's Artemis 2 mission.
