what happened

Royal Air Maroc agreed to equip its entire fleet with Starlink Aviation Wi-Fi by 2027, following a testing phase on several aircraft, per Space in Africa and Le360, both citing Africa Intelligence's Aug. 18 report that the deal was concluded Aug. 4 by RAM chairman and CEO Abdelhamid Addou. Neither Royal Air Maroc nor SpaceX has publicly confirmed the deal. Le360 reports the rollout targets RAM's predominantly Boeing fleet and was moved up from an earlier 2028 target, after negotiations over pricing that Le360 says was one of the biggest sticking points.

why it matters

If confirmed, Royal Air Maroc would be the first African carrier to adopt Starlink Aviation, a marker for Starlink's in-flight-connectivity push into a continent where rivals like Viasat and Panasonic have limited reach, and a reference deal other African airlines weighing satellite Wi-Fi vendors will watch.
