Australian Defence Magazine reported Aug. 12 that Nova Systems and Planet formalized a strategic partnership combining Planet's satellite coverage with AI and machine learning analysis to support the Australian Defence Force and National Intelligence Community, aimed at monitoring land and maritime environments, infrastructure change and disaster impact. Nova Systems CEO Dean Rosenfield said the deal combines "world-leading EO technology with Nova Systems' deep understanding of Defence and national security."

The tie-up gives Planet a formal local integrator for Australian defense and intelligence sales, adding to Nova Systems' existing space portfolio (including a separate Satellogic partnership) as Australia builds out its sovereign space-domain-awareness and geospatial-intelligence base.
