Altair-1, built by UAE manufacturer Orbitworks with integration support from Loft Orbital, launched aboard SpaceX's Transporter-18 rideshare mission at 11:32 a.m. PT on Oct. 1 from Vandenberg Space Force Base, per Gulf News. Orbitworks said the satellite deployed and acquired signal successfully and is now in commissioning; it carries optical, shortwave infrared, thermal, hyperspectral and radio-frequency sensors with onboard Nvidia GPUs for in-orbit processing, and is the first of a planned 10-satellite Altair constellation, with the remaining nine launching through 2027.
