Paragon Space Development laid off staff after Northrop Grumman terminated its NASA Gateway life-support subcontract.
what happened
Paragon Space Development Corp. said it carried out a companywide restructuring on Aug. 11 after Northrop Grumman, prime contractor for the Gateway HALO module, terminated Paragon's subcontract to build the module's life support system. SpaceNews reported 70 employees across Arizona, Colorado and Texas were affected; a WARN Act filing with Arizona's Department of Economic Security, reported by ABC15, listed 77 positions at Paragon's Tucson facility. The termination follows NASA's March announcement that it was indefinitely halting Gateway.

Gateway's halt is now working its way through the Artemis supply chain to named subcontractors, not just Northrop itself; Paragon said it retains IP rights to the life-support technology it developed, which it may look to place with lunar-base or other human-spaceflight programs.
