EUMETSAT renews Spire weather-data contract at 4 million euros
Spire Global · EUMETSAT
EUMETSAT renewed and expanded its Spire Global radio-occultation weather-data contract to 4 million euros for one year.
what happened
EUMETSAT awarded Spire Global a one-year, 4 million euro contract renewal and expansion, up from the prior 3 million euro agreement, to continue supplying radio-occultation atmospheric data through August 2027, per Spire's own release. Spire will expand the volume of atmospheric observations it delivers to support operational weather forecasting across Europe and the WMO community.
why it matters
A repeat customer increasing its committed spend is a small but concrete data point on demand for commercial radio-occultation data as a complement to government weather satellites; it is a routine renewal, not a new capability or market entry.
