NorthStar Earth & Space's European subsidiary will lead a consortium for ESA's FALCON (Forecasting of Atmospheric Location and Chronology of Re-entry) initiative, assessing the limitations of uncontrolled atmospheric reentry predictions and developing a framework for probability-based forecasts of reentry time and location. Spain's Charles III University of Madrid (UC3M) and Romania's Institute of Space Science are consortium partners. NorthStar cited the 2025 uncontrolled reentry of a SpaceX Falcon 9 second stage over Poland as an example of the problem the study addresses.
