Boeing delivers final three O3b mPower satellites to SES
Boeing · SES
Boeing has delivered the last three satellites needed to complete SES's 13-satellite O3b mPower constellation.
what happened
Boeing delivered satellites F11, F12 and F13, the final three in SES's O3b mPower medium-Earth-orbit constellation, built on Boeing's 702X software-defined-payload bus. The trio is set to launch on a SpaceX Falcon 9 mission later this month and is expected to enter service in mid-2027, adding capacity to the 10 O3b mPower satellites already on orbit.
why it matters
Completing the constellation's build closes out a program that suffered power-module problems on its first four satellites, for which SES CFO Lisa Pataki said the operator has collected $15 million against a $218 million insurance claim to date. The added capacity feeds into SES's broader 'meoSphere' plan, which combines O3b mPower with IRIS2 and next-generation satellites into one software-defined MEO network.
