Satellogic names SynMax exclusive maritime channel for Merlin data
Satellogic · SynMax
SynMax's Theia platform becomes the sole maritime-intelligence channel for Satellogic's upcoming Merlin constellation.

what happened
Satellogic said Sept. 3 that SynMax will be the exclusive channel for maritime intelligence derived from its forthcoming Merlin constellation, extending a broader AI-intelligence collaboration the companies announced in June. SynMax's Theia platform, which identifies vessels including ones with disabled or falsified AIS transponders, will run on Merlin's daily one-meter-resolution global imagery once the constellation is operating; Merlin's first satellite is on track to launch in October 2026, with government and commercial customer rollout beginning in 2027.
why it matters
The deal locks in a distribution partner for Satellogic's maritime data before Merlin has even launched, giving SynMax exclusive access to a new daily-revisit optical-plus-AIS data source for dark-vessel detection, sanctions-evasion monitoring, and illegal-fishing analysis, markets it already serves off other operators' imagery. No financial terms were disclosed.
