Sompo Japan Insurance signed a contract to use ICEYE's Flood Insights product, giving the insurer satellite radar intelligence on the extent and severity of flood events to speed its claims response, per ICEYE's September 7 press release. ICEYE Japan CEO Yasuhiro "Pete" Tsukahara said the data can help enable a faster and more efficient claims response. The deal is part of Sompo Japan's Hikeshi DNA 2030 Project, which aims to strengthen the insurer's disaster preparedness and recovery capabilities.

It is another insurance-sector customer win for ICEYE's SAR-based claims-assessment business, following its wildfire parametric product with Liberty Mutual, extending the same satellite-driven claims model to flood risk with one of Japan's largest general insurers.
