Exolaunch signs first SpaceX Starfall reentry mission deal
Exolaunch · SpaceX
Exolaunch will integrate customer payloads on a Starship-launched Starfall reentry mission set for no earlier than 2029.

what happened
German launch integrator Exolaunch signed an agreement with SpaceX to serve as payload integrator on a Starfall reentry mission flying on Starship no earlier than 2029, per Payload. The deal is Exolaunch's first commitment to an Earth-return mission and to Starship; Exolaunch will fill the capsule's roughly 1,000 kg payload capacity with customer payloads spanning biotech, pharmaceutical, and in-space manufacturing applications, and will manage the technical, logistical, operational, and regulatory requirements for those customers, per Payload. Exolaunch is separately being acquired by investment firm EQT, a deal expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.
why it matters
Starfall is SpaceX's new return-cargo service, and Exolaunch is now the third integrator to publicly book a mission on it, after Redwire's SpaceMD and Luxembourg's Space Cargo. A dedicated integrator managing customer payloads gives biotech and pharma companies a path to microgravity manufacturing and sample return without contracting SpaceX directly, and EQT's biotech portfolio gives Exolaunch a built-in pipeline of customers for the new line of business.
