Amazon hits 1,000 satellites built for its Leo constellation
Amazon
Amazon's Kirkland factory has built 1,000 Leo satellites, with 396 already in orbit and more queued for upcoming launches.

what happened
Amazon said its Kirkland, Washington factory has manufactured 1,000 satellites for its Amazon Leo (formerly Project Kuiper) broadband constellation, with 396 deployed in orbit and only four deorbited, per Via Satellite. The company said satellites are stacked and ready for its next Vulcan Centaur and Ariane 6 launches, both expected in the coming weeks. Amazon Leo's production lead said: "We solved the production problem. Now we're ready to go as rockets become available."
why it matters
Amazon Leo's bottleneck has been launch cadence rather than satellite production: having 1,000 satellites built and queued means the constellation's growth is now gated by how fast ULA and Arianespace can fly Vulcan and Ariane 6, not by Amazon's own factory output. That marks a different competitive position against Starlink than the one Amazon Leo held when manufacturing capacity was the more commonly cited constraint.
