Viasat orders All.Space Hydra Max terminals for its Ka-band network
Viasat · All.Space
Viasat ordered multiple All.Space Hydra Max multi-orbit satcom terminals, now certified on its global Ka-band network.

what happened
All.Space announced Oct. 13 that Viasat placed an order for multiple Hydra Max satcom terminals, which can transmit on two or more independent Ka-band satellite links simultaneously, per Via Satellite and Satellite Evolution Group; neither company disclosed the quantity or financial terms. The Hydra Max terminal is now approved to operate on Viasat's global NextGen Ka-band network, including Mil Ka-band, following a strategic partnership the two companies entered earlier this year to integrate, test and certify the Hydra terminal family.
why it matters
The order converts an earlier integration partnership into an actual purchase, giving government and defense users a terminal that can draw on Viasat's GEO network alongside other Ka-band systems (SES's O3b mPOWER, and eventually Amazon Kuiper and Telesat Lightspeed); the undisclosed scale keeps this a proof point rather than a market-moving deal, but it is a concrete step as multi-orbit interoperability becomes a selling point for satcom terminal makers.
