Arqiva signs three-year satellite uplink deal with Kuwait's Gulfsat
Arqiva · Gulfsat
Arqiva will provide Gulfsat managed Ku-band uplink services from its UK teleports onto Eutelsat 8 West B for three years.
what happened
Arqiva said it signed a three-year agreement with Kuwaiti satellite operator Gulfsat to provide a managed uplink service combining fiber connectivity and the uplink of four Ku-band transponders from Arqiva's Chalfont and Crawley teleports onto Eutelsat 8 West B, per Via Satellite and Advanced Television. Arqiva said Gulfsat selected it for its geographically diverse, UK-based uplink infrastructure, graded Tier 4 by the World Teleport Association, serving Middle East and North Africa satellite beams from outside the region. Neither company disclosed a deal value.
why it matters
The deal gives Gulfsat redundant, out-of-region uplink capacity for its Middle East broadcast business and extends Arqiva's push into Gulf satellite services beyond its UK base; Arqiva said the relationship also opens the door to further work across its media-services portfolio, including cloud playout and streaming.
