Blue Origin to build $330 million plant for 150 New Glenn upper stages a year
Blue Origin plans a $330 million Florida plant for up to 150 New Glenn upper stages yearly, part of a $3 billion buildout.

what happened
Blue Origin said it has invested over $3 billion to date in its Florida production and rocket-integration facilities, which span roughly 31 acres and employ about 5,000 people, per Reuters (via Investing.com). A new $330 million expansion, targeted for completion in summer 2027, will support production of the larger New Glenn 9x4 variant and allow annual production of up to 150 upper stages. Senior vice president of operations Ian Richardson said the investments are "centered on one goal: building the capacity to support more missions, more reliably, and more efficiently," and that the infrastructure "is designed to support multiple flights per week by the end of the decade." The company also plans to add more launch and landing pads in Florida for New Glenn, which has been grounded since its only pad exploded during a static fire in May. Separately, Ars Technica reported the company plans two additional launch pads beyond the two already under construction, and two additional landing ships beyond its current one, Jacklyn, per a summary crediting Ars Technica.
why it matters
A $330 million dedicated upper-stage plant and a public target of multiple New Glenn flights a week by decade's end signal Blue Origin is building industrial capacity years ahead of demonstrated demand, the same bet SpaceX made with Starship. For launch customers and competing vehicle builders, the scale of committed capital is a signal about how seriously to price Blue Origin into national-security and commercial manifests once New Glenn returns to flight.
