Flexell Space and Satoro plan two in-orbit solar cell demos
Flexell Space · Satoro
The two companies will fly Flexell's next-generation solar cells on Satoro-built demo satellites in 2027 and 2028.

what happened
Flexell Space and Singapore's Satoro agreed to collaborate on in-orbit demonstration and validation of Flexell's next-generation space solar cells, per SpaceNews. Satoro will manufacture two demonstration satellites, each launching on a separate SpaceX Falcon 9 mission in 2027 and 2028, while Flexell supplies the solar cells and test modules; Flexell CEO Taehun Ahn said commercializing the cells requires both ground testing and in-orbit data.
why it matters
The deal gives Flexell, a Hanwha-backed CIGS/perovskite solar cell maker that already flew two demonstrations on Korea's KSLV-II, a second launch partner and a path to the operational flight data satellite buyers want before switching away from incumbent solar cell suppliers.
