NorthStar Earth & Space to go public via $300 million SPAC merger with Viking
NorthStar Earth & Space
The space situational awareness company merges with Viking Acquisition Corp. I, targeting NYSE as NSTR in Q3 2026.

what happened
NorthStar Earth & Space and Viking Acquisition Corp. I signed a definitive business combination agreement on April 17, 2026 to take the Montreal-based space situational awareness company public at a $300 million pre-money valuation, per the companies' joint release. The deal includes a $30 million PIPE anchored by Cartesian Capital Group, and the combined company expects to trade on the NYSE as NSTR after closing in Q3 2026. NorthStar says proceeds will fund its planned space-based sensor constellation for space situational and space domain awareness services.
why it matters
A public listing gives NorthStar capital to build out the sensor constellation it needs to compete with LeoLabs and other commercial space-domain-awareness providers as debris tracking and conjunction-warning demand grows. It also signals SPAC vehicles remain a viable public-market route for space companies beyond the marquee names, following Quantum Space's own SPAC announcement the same year. For satellite operators and insurers, a well-capitalized independent SSA/SDA provider is another data source outside government-run catalogs.
