ICEYE extends wildfire intelligence coverage to Canada

ICEYE

ICEYE extended its SAR wildfire-monitoring service to Canada.

what happened

ICEYE said it is extending its wildfire intelligence suite, which uses synthetic aperture radar (SAR) to deliver near real-time monitoring and building-level damage assessment, to Canada. ICEYE said Canada now joins the US and Australia as the regions where its full wildfire toolset is available, and that SAR can operate through smoke, cloud cover, and darkness.

why it matters

SAR-based wildfire monitoring gives insurers, utilities, and emergency responders damage assessment that optical imagery cannot deliver through smoke. ICEYE cited the Canadian Climate Institute's finding that the last three fire seasons rank among the 10 worst on record, and the expansion opens ICEYE to Canadian insurers and provincial agencies building out wildfire-risk products.
