Orbit Fab hires new CEO, raises $25M ahead of Series B
Orbit Fab
Per SpaceNews, Orbit Fab appointed Peter Shaper as CEO and raised over $25 million in interim funding ahead of a Series B round.
what happened
SpaceNews reports Orbit Fab hired Peter Shaper, previously CEO of satellite services companies CapRock Communications and Speedcast, as its new chief executive, and raised more than $25 million in interim funding led by Stride Capital. Per SpaceNews, the company is targeting a $30-50 million Series B round to fund at least two demonstration missions in 2027 and its first commercial contracts, and holds a backlog of more than $40 million in refueling-related contracts.
why it matters
In-space refueling is still pre-revenue across the sector, so a new CEO with services-scaling experience and fresh capital signals investors still see near-term commercial viability for on-orbit logistics. The raise and demo-mission timeline give satellite operators and government customers a data point on when refueling services might move from pilot programs to contracted capacity.
