SaxaVord sets RFA ONE's maiden launch window for August 10
Rocket Factory Augsburg · SaxaVord Spaceport
SaxaVord Spaceport told marine users RFA's first RFA ONE launch attempt opens a five-week window from August 10.
what happened
Per European Spaceflight and Shetland News, SaxaVord Spaceport notified marine users that Rocket Factory Augsburg's inaugural RFA ONE orbital launch attempt from Lamba Ness, Unst, will have a five-week window opening Monday, August 10, 2026, with possible attempts on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between 4pm and 8pm. The window slips a prior mid-2026 target; RFA integrated all nine Helix first-stage engines on June 26. A static-fire failure destroyed an earlier RFA ONE first stage in 2024.
why it matters
A successful flight would be the first orbital launch from UK soil and Western Europe's first new small-launcher to reach orbit since Ariane 6's debut, a marker European commercial-launch customers have waited years for after 2024's static-fire setback. Every slipped window adds to the credibility gap smallsat operators already voice about non-SpaceX launch access.
