Beyond Reach Labs raises $10 million seed for deployable solar arrays
Beyond Reach Labs
The startup's 100-meter deployable solar arrays have drawn $342.6 million in customer letters of intent.

what happened
Beyond Reach Labs raised a $10 million seed round led by Interlagos, with TerraForge Capital, Off-Piste Capital, Y Combinator and Augur VC participating, per Payload. The company builds a patented deployable solar array that flat-packs into a standard launch fairing and extends to 100 meters in orbit, aimed at satellites, commercial space stations and in-orbit data centers. CEO Mitchell Fogelson told Payload the company has signed $342.6 million in letters of intent with future customers and opened a 16,000-square-foot Brooklyn facility this week, targeting flight qualification by the end of the year.
why it matters
Power, not launch mass, is becoming the binding constraint as spacecraft get bigger, particularly for the in-orbit data center concepts SpaceX and others are now floating; a deployable-array vendor that can drop into any bus is a component supplier large-format satellite builders will want to evaluate.
