ThinKom's GT2517 becomes first airborne antenna certified for O3b mPower
ThinKom · SES
ThinKom's ThinAir GT2517 is the first airborne antenna certified to operate on SES's O3b mPower constellation.
what happened
ThinKom's ThinAir GT2517 Ka-band airborne terminal completed SES's Government Technology Certification (GTC) program, per Via Satellite, becoming the first airborne antenna certified to operate on SES's O3b mPOWER medium-Earth-orbit constellation. The Type 3 certification integrates the GT2517 with the Hughes HM400 software-defined modem and SES Space and Defense's terminal-manager software, clearing it for deployment across SES Space and Defense's GEO and NGSO satellite assets for special-mission ISR aircraft.
why it matters
The certification gives government ISR and special-mission aircraft operators a qualified path onto O3b mPower's low-latency MEO capacity alongside GEO, widening the in-flight connectivity options SES Space and Defense can sell into military and intelligence customers.
