Intellian launches C100M terminal, completing Iridium GMDSS lineup
Intellian Technologies · Iridium
Intellian's new C100M terminal, built on Iridium Certus 100, gives it a dedicated terminal for every Iridium Certus GMDSS service tier.
what happened
Intellian released the C100M GMDSS System, a maritime safety terminal built on Iridium's Certus 100 service, per Via Satellite. The bridge-mounted unit supports distress alerting, safety voice, maritime safety information, ship security alerting, and long-range identification and tracking, and accepts both coaxial and NMEA 2000 cabling so vessels can reuse existing GMDSS antenna cable during retrofits. Intellian said the launch makes it the only manufacturer offering a dedicated terminal for every Iridium Certus service tier, alongside its existing C200M and C700 systems.
why it matters
GMDSS terminal coverage across every Iridium Certus tier lowers the cost and complexity of fleet-wide safety-system retrofits for shipowners standardizing on Iridium, a competitive edge for Intellian against other GMDSS terminal makers as Iridium's maritime safety service pushes for wider adoption ahead of Inmarsat's GMDSS incumbency.
