K2 Space raises $500 million Series D at $6.8 billion valuation
K2 Space
K2 Space's new funding, led by Kleiner Perkins and ICONIQ, more than doubles its valuation as it scales satellite production.

what happened
K2 Space raised a $500 million Series D at a $6.8 billion valuation, led by Kleiner Perkins and ICONIQ with participation from CapitalG, Lightspeed, Altimeter, Spark Capital, Sands Capital, ARK Invest and T. Rowe Price, per the company's release. The round brings K2's total capital raised to more than $1 billion since its 2022 founding, and Aviation Week reports the new valuation is more than double the company's December 2025 mark. K2 also says it has now surpassed $1 billion in signed commercial and government contracts, per Via Satellite. K2 builds large, high-power satellites at a Torrance, California factory sized for up to 100 satellites a year, with contracts including SES's meoSphere network, the Golden Dome missile-defense program with Anduril, and the Space Force's Protected Tactical Satcom-Global program.
why it matters
The raise signals investor confidence in large-satellite manufacturing as demand grows from defense programs like Golden Dome and commercial network operators like SES. K2's push toward a 100 kW-class Giga platform positions it to compete for the biggest, most power-hungry satellite contracts as buyers seek fewer, larger spacecraft over proliferated smallsat constellations.
