what happened

Gilat Satellite Networks demonstrated a patent-pending, AI-based interference detection and cancellation technology for satellite communication links, per Via Satellite. The company said preliminary results showed up to a 10x improvement in interference detection and cancellation versus conventional mitigation techniques across a range of non-cooperative and non-static interference scenarios, with the signal of interest left "virtually unaffected." The system is designed to run on standard AI edge NPU hardware; Gilat chief R&D officer Aharon Mullokandov said the company next plans to demonstrate the technology on dedicated AI accelerator hardware toward a low-power edge deployment for satellite terminals.

why it matters

Interference and jamming resilience is a growing purchase criterion for government and defense satcom buyers operating in contested spectrum, so a credible AI-based cancellation result gives Gilat a technical claim to sell into that segment even before the technology reaches a shipping product.
