what happened

EarthDaily said Aug. 26 it is expanding its AI-powered wildfire risk intelligence, built on its Fire Likelihood AI Model (FLAIM), across high-risk markets in the western United States through a new commercial agreement with what the company described only as "a large North American property and casualty insurance group," per EarthDaily's own newsroom. The unnamed insurer will use EarthDaily's wildfire risk model to support underwriting, portfolio management and growth planning. EarthDaily said FLAIM's monthly composite showed a very high wildfire-ignition likelihood over Spokane, Washington in July, before a fire began in the area on Aug. 1. No financial terms were disclosed.

why it matters

It is another instance of a commercial EO operator selling risk-scoring outputs directly into insurance underwriting rather than just imagery, a higher-margin use case than one-off tasking; the undisclosed insurer name and missing dollar figure limit how much can be read into the deal's scale.
