York introduced the LX/V-Class, a satellite bus built to sustain very low Earth orbit for tactical imaging and communications payloads.

what happened
York Space Systems announced its LX/V-Class satellite platform on September 2, adapted from its existing S- and LX-Class buses for sustained operation in very low Earth orbit (as low as 200 km), per Payload. The platform carries up to about 300 kg of payload, targets 3-plus years at sustained VLEO altitudes using higher-thrust electric propulsion from York's Orbion Space Technology subsidiary, and generates up to 2 kW of peak power; York says production takes 6 to 7 months from contract signing. CEO Dirk Wallinger said the platform targets applications including moving-target indicators and missile warning and tracking.

York is pitching rapid deployment over the sub-300 km extreme-VLEO approach competitors Redwire, Kreios Space, and Bellatrix Aerospace are pursuing; as a Space Development Agency prime contractor, a faster-to-build VLEO bus is aimed squarely at tactical imaging and missile-tracking constellation business rather than commercial EO.
