Gen. Douglas Schiess was sworn in as the U.S. Space Force's Chief of Space Operations at a Change of Responsibility ceremony at Joint Base Andrews on September 3, succeeding Gen. Chance Saltzman. He is only the third person to hold the post since the Space Force was established in 2019. Schiess had been serving as deputy chief of space operations for operations and was confirmed by the Senate for the promotion on August 6.
