Eutelsat orders GEO life-extension mission from Infinite Orbits
Eutelsat · Infinite Orbits
Eutelsat will use Infinite Orbits' Endurance servicer to add roughly five years of life to an aging GEO satellite.

what happened
Eutelsat and Infinite Orbits announced an agreement on the sidelines of the International Space Summit in Paris for the French satellite-servicing company to extend the life of at least one Eutelsat GEO satellite nearing its end of service, per Payload. It is Infinite Orbits' third life-extension order, after agreements with SES in 2025 and Hispasat in 2024. Infinite Orbits' Endurance spacecraft rendezvouses and docks with an unprepared GEO satellite; each mission can add about five years of service life, per Infinite Orbits CEO Adel Haddoud. Haddoud declined to disclose the mission's cost but said the business case closes for Eutelsat.
why it matters
A third order in as many years, from a third different GEO operator, signals GEO life extension has moved from a novelty demonstration to a repeatable purchase fleet operators budget for, letting them keep earning revenue on satellites that would otherwise be decommissioned or moved to a graveyard orbit. It cements Infinite Orbits as Europe's most active commercial GEO-servicing vendor, with SES, Hispasat, and now Eutelsat as reference customers.
