Galaxia raises $4.5 million CAD to build satellite compute systems
Galaxia
Halifax's Galaxia raised CAD $4.5 million (about $3.25 million) to build out on-orbit compute and sovereign space capabilities.

what happened
Canadian Earth observation firm Galaxia raised CAD $4.5 million (about $3.25 million), co-led by Amiral Ventures and Invest Nova Scotia, per Payload and BetaKit. Galaxia said the funding will cover deploying new satellites, expanding its hybrid space networking, and growing sovereign space capabilities. CEO Arad Gharagozli said the round "enables us to scale that capability, strengthen sovereign capacity, and accelerate the transition to real-time, software-defined operations in orbit."
why it matters
The round gives Galaxia, which builds Earth observation satellites with onboard edge-compute and AI processing, capital to scale hardware deployment as it competes with other Canadian sovereign-space players, such as Kepler Communications, for government and commercial customers.
