Elveo Mobile taps Apex to build 320-satellite D2D constellation
Elveo Mobile · Apex
Elveo Mobile partnered with Apex to stand up a dedicated U.S. factory for its planned 320-satellite direct-to-device constellation.

what happened
Elveo Mobile, formed from the August merger of Lynk Global and Omnispace, said it partnered with spacecraft manufacturer Apex to establish a dedicated spacecraft factory in the U.S. using Apex's vertically integrated Factory X production model, per the companies' announcement, Via Satellite, and Light Reading. Elveo plans to use the same blueprint to add manufacturing facilities in Europe and Asia with regional partners. Space Intel Report reports the deal covers a 320-satellite constellation built on Lynk's IP and Apex's Octopus operating system. The satellites will use patented technology compliant with 3GPP non-terrestrial network (NTN) standards and carry on-board processing and networking.
why it matters
The deal gives Apex, a satellite-bus manufacturer that has raised more than $700 million on the promise of standardized, high-rate production lines, a new anchor customer for its direct-to-device business. For Elveo, contracting out manufacturing at scale is a step toward fielding a constellation to compete with AST SpaceMobile and Starlink Direct to Cell in the direct-to-device market, where Lynk and Omnispace had separately struggled to reach commercial scale before merging.
