Intellian and Network Innovations to build multi-band WGS flyaway terminals
Intellian Technologies · Network Innovations
Intellian's new terminal spans Mil X-band, Military Ka-band and commercial Ka/Ku-band across every orbit, deployable in under 30 minutes.

what happened
Intellian Technologies and Network Innovations signed a strategic partnership to jointly develop and distribute a multi-band, multi-orbit Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) flyaway terminal for military and government customers, per a Network Innovations announcement and PR Newswire. Intellian said the platform is its first tactical ground WGS flyaway terminal to support simultaneous Mil-X, Military Ka-band, and commercial Ka- and Ku-band connectivity, with electronic switching across an extended range of Ka-band frequencies, designed for LEO, MEO, GEO and HEO operations and deployable in about 30 minutes. Intellian CEO Eric Sung said the terminal addresses "the increasingly complex communications requirements of modern defense operations," and Network Innovations CEO Derek Dawson said it "supports not only WGS satellites, but also the combination of all existing and new LEO/MEO satellites." Intellian plans commercial Ka/Ku-only variants for broader government, enterprise and critical-communications customers.
why it matters
A single flyaway terminal spanning military and commercial Ka/Ku bands across every orbital regime cuts the equipment expeditionary units need to carry for multi-network connectivity, a selling point as defense customers push satcom vendors toward multi-orbit interoperability; the partnership pairs Intellian's terminal engineering with Network Innovations' two decades of military and WGS systems-integration and distribution relationships, giving Intellian a faster path into a government terminal market it hasn't previously led.
