MDA unveils CHORUS product portfolio ahead of constellation launch
MDA Space unveiled the full commercial product lineup for its CHORUS Earth observation constellation, due to launch later this year.

what happened
MDA Space announced at World Space Business Week on September 16 the complete MDA CHORUS product portfolio: COMMAND (archive search, tasking and acquisition scheduling), COMMAND PRO (direct downlink via regional ground stations), and INTELLIGENCE (SAR-based geointelligence analytics covering maritime awareness, vessel detection, oil-on-water and ground-deformation monitoring), per MDA's own release. The three-satellite CHORUS constellation, comprising new X-band and C-band spacecraft alongside the existing RADARSAT-2, is due to launch later in 2026, following last month's opening of the CHORUS Control Centre in Quebec.
why it matters
The reveal signals MDA moving from satellite manufacturer to a full-stack SAR data and analytics provider, competing more directly with other SAR operators for government and commercial geointelligence contracts once CHORUS reaches orbit. The tiered COMMAND/INTELLIGENCE structure lets customers buy raw tasking or finished analytics, a packaging model resellers can use to benchmark pricing against rival SAR operators.
