United and DISH bring live football to Starlink-enabled seatback screens
United Airlines · Dish · EchoStar · SpaceX
United and DISH are streaming nine live NFL and college football channels to Starlink-connected seatback screens through the Super Bowl.

what happened
United Airlines and DISH began streaming nine live channels, including ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, ESPN, ESPN2, FS1, NFL Network and Thursday Night Football on Prime Video, to Starlink-connected seatback screens on more than 200 United mainline aircraft this week, per DISH's press release and TV Technology. The service pairs DISH's OnStream platform with United's Starlink connectivity and is complimentary for MileagePlus members across all cabin classes; United plans to expand it to nearly 700 aircraft by February's Super Bowl.
why it matters
The deal gives SpaceX another visible commercial showcase for in-flight Wi-Fi beyond raw connectivity speed, as it competes with Viasat and Intelsat for airline contracts. For DISH, it extends its OnStream content-distribution business onto an aviation platform that runs entirely on a rival's satellite network rather than its own.
