Firefly Aerospace completes second cleanroom at Cedar Park campus
Firefly's new ISO Class 8 cleanroom, four times the size of its original, lets it build up to 12 landers and orbital vehicles at once.

what happened
Firefly Aerospace completed a new cleanroom at its Cedar Park, Texas campus with a ribbon-cutting ceremony September 22, per the company. The facility is four times the size of Firefly's existing cleanroom and, combined with it, forms an assembly line the company says can support up to 12 lunar landers and orbital vehicles simultaneously. The cleanroom holds an ISO Class 8 rating for the contamination control required during spacecraft assembly, integration and test.
why it matters
The expansion adds manufacturing throughput ahead of Firefly's ramp in lunar-lander and orbital-vehicle missions for NASA's CLPS program and its Blue Ghost and Elytra lines, a capacity bet that only pays off if contracted mission volume keeps growing at the same pace.
