Astranis secures $468 million EXIM loan to expand satellite production
Astranis
The Export-Import Bank's direct loan will fund Astranis's expansion of domestic GEO-satellite manufacturing capacity.
what happened
The Export-Import Bank of the United States said it approved a $468 million direct credit facility for Astranis on September 30, 2026, under its Make More in America initiative, to fund expansion of the company's satellite production and assembly capacity at its roughly 153,000-square-foot Northern California headquarters. J.P. Morgan's Securitized Products Group arranged the transaction.
why it matters
The financing is a large, government-backed vote of confidence in a company whose roughly $1.2 billion commercial backlog spans Thailand, Taiwan, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the US government; it gives Astranis capital to scale production without further diluting equity, a path other GEO smallsat manufacturers chasing sovereign and telecom customers will be watching.
