Hop Aero raises $11 million for suborbital cargo rocket
Hop Aero
Y Combinator graduate Hop Aero closed an $11 million round to develop its container-launched Rook cargo rocket.

what happened
Hop Aero raised $11 million led by Initialized Capital following its participation in Y Combinator's summer batch, the company told Payload. The round includes money raised both before and during the YC program and funds continued development of Rook, an autonomous rocket that launches from a shipping container and is designed to land a payload of up to 250 kg roughly 750 km away within 15 minutes.
why it matters
Hop Aero is chasing the same rapid point-to-point delivery niche as better-funded reentry-cargo rivals. A fresh round from a seed investor with a track record in the sector, Initialized Capital has also backed AstroForge, Kayhan Space and Star Catcher, keeps another contender in the field targeting defense logistics customers.
