Satlyt raises $8M seed to expand in-orbit AI compute network
Satlyt
Satlyt raised an $8 million seed round to grow its software-only network for running AI inference on partner satellites.

what happened
Satlyt, headquartered jointly in Nairobi and Sunnyvale, raised an $8 million seed round led by non sibi ventures, with TLCOM, Antler, Slauson & Co., Launch Africa Ventures, Enza Capital and other investors participating, the company said. Satlyt's software injects AI-inference capability onto partner satellites to process data in orbit and downlink only the needed outputs, rather than building its own orbital-data-center hardware; the company previously won a $4 million NASA STTR contract and demonstrated AI inference using Google's Gemma model in space.
why it matters
The round funds a software-first alternative to the hardware-heavy orbital-data-center concepts other startups are racing to build: Satlyt rents compute time on satellites it doesn't own rather than launching its own. For EO operators, that's a potential new revenue line for idle onboard compute, and for data buyers a cheaper route to in-orbit processing without waiting for dedicated ODC hardware to reach orbit.
