Azercosmos launches Platerra AI platform for satellite imagery analysis
Azercosmos
Azercosmos launched Platerra, an AI platform that automates satellite imagery analysis into geospatial information.

what happened
Azercosmos launched Platerra, an AI-powered platform that combines its Earth observation data with machine learning to automate satellite imagery analysis, per the company's announcement (Via Satellite) and SatNews. The platform, developed in Baku and accessible via a dedicated portal, covers image enhancement and noise reduction, forest cover and vegetation change detection, water body boundary measurement, automated object and infrastructure detection, and agricultural field delineation and crop monitoring, per SatNews. Azercosmos said it plans to keep expanding Platerra's analytical capabilities and add multispectral imagery support.
why it matters
Platerra moves Azercosmos beyond selling raw imagery toward selling processed geospatial intelligence directly, the same AI-analytics layer that EO resellers and larger operators are racing to build to capture more value per image before customers turn to third-party analytics providers.
