Amazon Leo completes satellite connectivity demo with US Army
Amazon
Amazon's Leo Pro terminal hit over 400 Mbps in an Army field test, the next step toward tactical soldier connectivity.
what happened
The US Army's DEVCOM C5ISR Center held a live demonstration of Amazon Leo's satellite network at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland on October 13, with more than 30 Army representatives attending, per Amazon. Using the Leo Pro customer antenna, the test sent and received data via laptop as Leo satellites passed overhead, reaching peak download speeds exceeding 400 Mbps. Amazon says it plans follow-on tests covering higher-speed links, mobile use cases, and integration with existing Army tactical networks.
why it matters
The demo is a concrete step in an existing Amazon-Army cloud and connectivity partnership, giving Amazon Leo a government reference case as it builds out its constellation alongside Starlink's established military Starshield business. For defense integrators, a validated Leo Pro terminal performance figure is a data point to plan around as the Army moves from lab tests toward tactical network integration.
