Solstar demonstrates space-to-space Wi-Fi link for NASA cubesat test
Solstar · Momentus · Iridium
Solstar linked NASA's R5-S10 cubesat with Momentus' Vigoride-7 by Wi-Fi in a 30-minute proximity-ops test, relaying data via Iridium.

what happened
Solstar Space's Wi-Fi technology connected NASA's R5-S10 cubesat with Momentus' Vigoride-7 orbital service vehicle during a roughly 30-minute proximity-operations demonstration, relaying data to NASA's Johnson Space Center, per Solstar's release and SpaceNews. Solstar's Deke Space Communicator aboard Vigoride-7 collected more than 2,300 optical, infrared and lidar data files from the two spacecraft and sent them to Johnson through an experimental data-relay link provided by Iridium Communications.
why it matters
The test exercises Solstar and Momentus' existing multi-year Vigoride Wi-Fi and data-relay services agreement. A working space-to-space data relay through a third party's network is a building block for autonomous inspection and servicing missions, where spacecraft need to share sensor data in real time without waiting for a ground pass.
