Apex in talks to raise $500 million at $4 billion valuation
Apex · Northrop Grumman
Satellite bus maker Apex is discussing a new round nearly double its $2.3 billion valuation from June, per Bloomberg.

what happened
Apex, the Los Angeles satellite bus manufacturer, has entered discussions to raise approximately $500 million in a new funding round that would value the company at roughly $4 billion, nearly double its $2.3 billion valuation from a $200 million round in June, Bloomberg reported October 22, citing people familiar with the matter. Washington Harbour Partners is positioned to lead the round, with existing investors Andreessen Horowitz and XYZ Venture Capital also participating, per Bloomberg and SatNews. Apex builds standardized Aries and Nova satellite buses at its Los Angeles Factory One, which can assemble about 200 platforms a year, and has a partnership with Northrop Grumman on space-based interceptors for the Golden Dome missile-defense program, per SatNews.
why it matters
A near-doubling of Apex's valuation in just over four months, if the round closes at the reported terms, would mark the company's largest raise to date and signal investor confidence that standardized satellite buses, rather than custom-built platforms, are becoming the default for both commercial and defense satellite programs. Apex's Golden Dome interceptor work with Northrop Grumman also ties its growth directly to a flagship national-security program, making this a financing round that resellers and competing bus manufacturers will read as a market-share signal, not just a capital raise.
