China launches Yaogan-50 03 remote sensing satellite
China launched the Yaogan-50 03 Earth-observation satellite on a Long March-6 rocket, state media says.

what happened
China launched the Yaogan-50 03 remote sensing satellite on Oct. 23 at 6:15 p.m. Beijing time from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center aboard a modified Long March-6 rocket, per CGTN. CGTN said the satellite reached its planned orbit, the mission was a complete success, and it marked the 672nd flight of the Long March rocket series overall. Per CGTN, the satellite will mainly be used for land survey, crop yield estimation, and disaster prevention and relief.
why it matters
The launch adds to China's fast-growing Yaogan remote-sensing fleet and keeps up the Long March family's launch cadence, the kind of state-directed EO capacity that commercial EO operators and resellers abroad increasingly compete and partner against.
