EarthDaily wins $3 million NASA task order to benchmark against Landsat
EarthDaily will supply its own satellite imagery for NASA and USGS to test against Landsat's data standards.
what happened
NASA awarded EarthDaily a $3 million task order to supply EarthDaily Constellation data and technical support under the Sustainable Land Imaging commercial-transition initiative, a joint NASA-USGS program. NASA and USGS will evaluate the constellation's data against Landsat requirements, covering data quality, calibration, and radiometric and geometric performance, and examine whether the observations can be harmonized to extend the Landsat record and support AI-ready Earth observation products.
why it matters
The task order tests whether a commercial constellation's imagery can be formally validated against the government's own Landsat archive, the kind of technical sign-off EO operators need before an agency will treat their data as a substitute for, or complement to, a public program. A favorable result would give EarthDaily and peers evidence to bid into future Landsat continuity work.
