Northwood Space raises $375 million Series C at $2 billion valuation
Northwood Space
Northwood Space closed a $375M Series C less than nine months after its $100M Series B, valuing the ground-network startup at $2 billion.

what happened
Northwood Space closed a $375 million Series C co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and DFJ Growth, valuing the ground-network startup at $2 billion, per Payload and Via Satellite. The round closed less than nine months after the company's $100 million Series B and brings total funding past $500 million; participants also included Alpine Space Ventures, Washington Harbour Partners, Stepstone Activate and In-Q-Tel, alongside a separate multi-year credit facility from HSBC Innovation Banking. Northwood builds standardized, modular ground-station antennas, Portal for command and control and Prism for high-throughput data links, and has built 29 antenna units in the past year at its 185,000-square-foot Torrance, California facility.
why it matters
The raise funds Northwood's bet that satellite operators will rent shared ground infrastructure rather than build their own dishes, a cloud-style model also chased by AWS Ground Station and others; CEO Bridgit Mendler says the company already delivers antennas faster than vendors can quote them. A $2 billion valuation and an existing $49.8 million Space Force contract for satellite control network support position Northwood as a reference ground-segment vendor for commercial operators and the US government as constellations scale past what custom-built antenna farms can support.
