China's StarVision and Adasat Oman sign Space Silk Road satellite deal
Adasat Oman · StarVision Aerospace
Oman and China agreed a satellite program building seven satellites in its first phase and training 1,000 Omani specialists.

what happened
Adasat Oman and China's StarVision Aerospace signed agreements under the Space Silk Road programme covering the development, launch and operation of satellites in two phases, with the first phase comprising seven satellites, per Oman Observer, Arab News and Global Business Outlook. A second, success-contingent phase would add more satellites. The agreements also establish a satellite assembly, integration and testing facility in Oman and a separate five-year programme to sponsor 30 Omani nationals for master's and doctoral study in China, train 1,000 Omani specialists, and set up a joint laboratory for space-related artificial intelligence. The deals were signed November 2 at the Oman-China Investment Partnership Horizons Forum in Beijing during Sultan Haitham bin Tarik's state visit, among 23 investment agreements the two countries signed.
why it matters
The deal gives China's StarVision a sovereign-constellation foothold in the Gulf and gives Oman its own satellite-assembly capacity and trained workforce rather than only buying imagery or capacity from established operators, a template other Gulf states weighing Chinese versus Western space partners will watch.
