CesiumAstro raises $730 million Series D at $4.5 billion valuation
CesiumAstro
The Janus Henderson-led round funds CesiumAstro's 737-satellite Synchronicity network after a successful first demo satellite.
what happened
CesiumAstro closed $730 million in Series D equity plus $100 million in debt financing, led by Janus Henderson with Insight Partners, Sands Capital, Sumitomo Corporation of Americas, Woven Capital, Incharge Capital, Magnetar, AV, and NewSpace Capital participating, per the company's announcement carried by SpaceNews. The round values CesiumAstro above $4.5 billion and brings its 2026 fundraising past $1.2 billion, following the October 2026 launch and in-orbit validation of Element-1, the company's first satellite testing its active phased array payload. CesiumAstro said the funding will go toward US manufacturing capacity, next-generation spacecraft production, and deployment of its planned 737-satellite Synchronicity constellation, designed to support Ku-, Ka-, and V-band communications with onboard edge compute.
why it matters
CesiumAstro's bet on vertically integrating silicon, phased arrays, payloads, spacecraft, and ground terminals now has enough capital behind it to move the company from a components supplier toward operating its own multi-band constellation. A $4.5 billion valuation for a satellite-communications startup raises the stakes for incumbent GEO and LEO operators competing for the same government and enterprise connectivity contracts.
