SatSure wins Rs 24.6 crore IN-SPACe grant to build sovereign Earth observation AI models
SatSure
Per Reuters: a $2.57M Technology Adoption Fund grant to develop AI models for Earth observation, one of three projects selected.
what happened
Indian startup SatSure secured a 246 million rupee ($2.57 million) grant from IN-SPACe to develop AI models for Earth observation, per Reuters. SatSure's own release says the grant, under the newly formed Technology Adoption Fund, funds Dhaarini, a sovereign Earth intelligence backbone of vision foundation models and large Earth observation models built for India's geographies, and was formalised at a signing ceremony in Ahmedabad on June 10; SatSure is one of only three projects selected nationwide.
why it matters
Small money, clear direction: India's regulator is now funding the analytics layer, not just satellites, and framing it explicitly as sovereign AI capability. SatSure is also a partner in IN-SPACe's Rs 1,200 crore EO public-private constellation alongside Pixxel, Dhruva Space and PierSight, so the grant deepens the emerging Indian EO stack that non-Indian analytics vendors will have to compete against locally.
